Yoon Chang

Yoon Chang (b. 1986) is a Korean-American artist based in Los Angeles whose work explores the intersection of emotion, memory, and place through layers of color and gesture. Living between cultures, she draws inspiration from the tension and harmony that emerge between belonging and distance, structure and freedom.

Her current series, Mindscapes, translates the unseen energy of moments into dynamic compositions of movement, transparency, and rhythm. Influenced by automatism, Yoon accesses material from the unconscious mind to create gestural forms layered with translucent and solid colors. Through color and gesture, Yoon maps emotional terrains shaped by migration, memory, and place.

Yoon studied Interior Design at Pratt Institute in Brooklyn, NY. Her transition from architectural design to painting became a process of unlearning structure and embracing intuition. Guided by emotion and instinct, her works unfold like lived experiences, fluid, layered, and resonant.
